Joe Lovejoy

Joe Lovejoy grew up trotting the globe in an Army family before commissioning as an officer in the Navy. While serving abroad he found his love for the sea, spending months at a time on deployments on both sides of the Pacific Ocean and time off-ship exploring the coasts of Japan, Malaysia, Guam and Australia. Returning to the US in 2019 he knew he had to pursue his passion for cruising and earned his USCG 200T Master credential and bought his first coastal cruiser.

In his years of living aboard Joe and his wife, Jezarine, have become regulars in the less-frequented anchorages of Catalina and coastal SoCal, searching for quiet dive sites and fresh fish—bonus points if there’s a surfable wave nearby! His own active cruising experience has showed him how boats are a great equalizer amongst water-people as he has shared a fresh catch aboard a 30ft sailboat with no refrigerator one night before stepping across to a 70ft yacht for dessert with the same crew with everyone aboard simply happy to be relaxing with friends on the water!

He has spent the last 10+ years turning his experience of active cruising, living aboard, working as a captain on vintage yachts and managing yachts in San Diego into a complete skillset to help clients find the best boat for their needs, whether that be an entry level cruiser or a go-anywhere expeditionary yacht! He holds a safe place in his heart for vintage yachts and is known by friends as “the youngest man to love wooden boats” after his time as captain aboard a pair of 100 year old luxury “small ship” charters in Alaska and Mexico.

Joe’s goal in yacht sales is to help folks find their own happy place on the water. He specializes in the rumble of a diesel powered trawler, but is more interested in understanding what clients are looking for and knows how to find just the right boat for their desires!
