St. Michaels is one of the most historic and charming towns on the Chesapeake Bay. Whether you’re looking to St. Michaelsexplore, relax, learn some history, or enjoy a nice meal, there is something for everyone in this quaint seaside town.

The waters for cruising into St. Michaels, like nearly all of the Chesapeake, offer navigable, protected coastline with an incredible diversity of cruising potential. The Bay is great for beginners and experienced sailors alike.

St. Michaels Marina is footsteps away from the center of town and can accommodate vessels up to 220’ with 10 feet of water depth. The bath house, pool, marine store, and boat spa make this marina well worth a stop.

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is one of the many highlights of St. Michaels. Founded in 1965, the museum’s 118-acre waterfront location began as a busy complex of seafood packing houses. It’s a working museum and there are always interesting boat restoration projects going on in the large ship building barns. Visitors are allowed to watch and ask questions during the process, making this museum a real gem.

The museum also has many standing exhibits, including the Hooper Strait Lighthouse, which was bought in 1966 — just one year after the museum was founded. There are many historic boats on display floating at the docks by the museum. Guests are frequently invited onboard for a short sail on the Miles River. If you find yourself there, make sure you check out the Edmee S., one of three historic 1930’s “log canoe” race boats owned by the museum.

When you’re ready to refuel yourself, St. Michaels offers a huge selection of restaurants and bars such as:

St. Michaels Winery is a lovely place to stop if you’re a connoisseur. They uncork daily at 11 AM and are open 7 days a week. There are about 18 wines to try at $1 per sample. The winery is only a short walk from Ava’s Pizza, making this a great post-lunch spot!
