Attending a boat show is one of the best ways to see the latest models firsthand, explore new gear and accessories, and speak face to face with professionals in the industry.
It can make for a long day though, especially if you’re not prepared. ACY’s Eric Smith put together a list of the top items to bring on your next boat show trip to make the experience more convenient and enjoyable:
1. A Carry Bag (Not a Backpack)
A small shoulder bag is ideal. Make sure you have enough room for all the items below. Don’t bring a backpack. They get in your way and scratch surfaces in close quarters below. If you have to leave your bag outside the boats, it could get stolen.
2. Slip Off Shoes
Don’t bother with shoes with laces. You’ll spend too much time tying and untying them every time you tour a boat (not on our boats, but on others). A secret weapon? Hospital socks with non-skid bottoms (sometimes called yoga or non-skid socks) for when you take your shoes off.
4. Suntan Lotion
Especially important during hot summer months, but equally important during winter shows in tropical locations.
5. Sunglasses
Consider a hat or sun visor as well.
6. Rain Jacket
Depending on the forecast, you should be prepared to spend some time outside in bad weather. A sweater or fleece may be useful during colder months.
7. Don’t Forget Your Checkbook
Above all, have fun and enjoy the show.
