A new approach to catamarans… The Lucia 40 from Fountaine Pajot

So-called owner’s versions of most popular catamarans have become pretty cookie cutter… Here’s an all new approach.

When Fountaine Pajot came out with the innovative Helia 44 a few years ago, they struck a cord. They created a light, bright boat with several social areas and exceptional live-aboard room. This was a huge boat and priced a bit out of many folks budget.

Along comes the Lucia 40 introduced in America In February 2016. What’s innovative is that FP started with a big volume hull and to take advantage of this, they focused on the back end of the boat. Offering huge owner’s cabins with island beds in both aft cabins, and a cockpit that rivals that of the successful Helia 44.  See preview video/photo shoot in the Bahamas here

What’s innovative, is that instead of the typical all-in-one head forward offered on most boats, Fountaine Pajot separated the compartments so that there is a totally separate compartment for the toilet, another for the vanity/linen locker, another for a very much enclosed shower that contains the over spray and finally, one more–a laundry room all the way forward.

With her abundant light and storage, and huge load carrying ability she’ll prove an ideal platform for a family cruising local waters or a couple cruising offshore or living aboard. All of this for a price about $200,000 less than her bigger sister–the Helia 44. See the introductory video just shot in the Bahamas here.
