Born and raised in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area, Rafael Escobar developed an early connection to the water through boating with his family. That passion was reignited during college through offshore fishing, and the ocean soon became a defining part of his personal and professional life.

Rafael earned a degree in Business Administration, double majoring in Finance and Real Estate. During his late twenties, he worked at a local church, leading youth programs and supporting community outreach. This experience strengthened his public-speaking and leadership abilities while helping him build relationships throughout the South Florida community—several of which ultimately led him into the marine industry.

At age 30, Rafael operated a small biodiesel business with prominent yacht broker Bob Denison. During that time, the owner of a local catamaran service company noticed Rafael’s work designing and building custom hydraulic switching systems for trucks. Impressed by his technical ability and problem-solving skills, he invited Rafael to begin working part-time as a diesel technician.

That opportunity began a 17-year career with a grassroots catamaran service company that grew into an industry leader. As the company expanded, Rafael discovered his true passion in marine electrical systems, power conversion, lithium batteries, solar energy, and navigation electronics. His combination of hands-on technical knowledge, business experience, and leadership helped establish him as a respected specialist within the catamaran and broader marine communities.

Although Rafael was positioned to purchase the company, he ultimately chose a different path. He founded Bluewater Yacht Tech to serve a broader range of vessels and ensure that his team’s expertise would not be limited to the catamaran market. Today, BWYT provides advanced marine electrical, energy, electronics, and systems solutions for vessels ranging from cruising catamarans to some of the world’s largest yachts.

Rafael is known for being honest and straightforward, with an uncompromising drive to perfect every installation. He believes clients deserve clear guidance, dependable workmanship, and solutions designed around how they actually use their vessels.

Rafael has been married to his wife, Nicole, since 2016. They are raising their two children, Rafy and Lennox, in South Florida, where his lifelong connection to the water continues both professionally and as a family.
