Broker Sea Trial Policy

  1. A short (1-2 hour) sea trial may be conducted for clients with a deposit (refundable is okay) or approved finance application.  These sea trials may be conducted on ACY stock boats (inventory OWNED by Atlantic Cruising Yachts) or on certain privately owned boats under our care or the care of one of our charter affiliates, with a valid Sales Associate Agreement in effect and advance written permission of the owner of the boat.
  2. In the case of an ACY stock boat, please confirm the boat’s availability for sea trial through the local ACY commissioning and service manager.
  3. In the case of a privately owned boat which has not yet been turned over to the charter company, please (a) confirm the boat’s availability for Sea Trial; and (b) call or email the owner requesting permission to conduct the sea trial. Again, ACY must have the owner’s permission in writing.
  4. In the case of a privately owned boat which has been turned over to one of our charter affiliates, please (a) confirm the boat’s availability for the sea trial with the charter manager (in writing) and (b) call or email the owner requesting permission to conduct the sea trial. Again, ACY must have the owner’s permission in writing.
  5. If the owner of the boat has an active Sales Associate Agreement with ACY, then ACY will pay the owner a flat $500 charter fee for the sea trial.  If the sale goes through, ACY will include the cost of the sea trial charter fee as part of the expense of the sale. If the sale does not go through, then 50% of the sea trial charter fee will be charged to the Sales Consultant.  Any additional expenses incurred, such as cleaning, fuel, etc. are for the Sales Consultant’s account, so please return the boat in the condition it was found or better.
