The Astréa 42: Debuting in America at Atlantic Cruising Yachts

This September, the Astréa 42 will make its North American debut at Atlantic Cruising Yachts headquarters in Annapolis, MD.

Since the Astréa 42 was revealed at the La Grande Motte International Boat Show in April 2018, Fountaine Pajot has released intricate renderings and a 360-degree tour of the sailing catamaran. You can experience the tour and explore the vessel’s dimensions here. As of May 2018, she received her first award: the Best Multihull of the Year juried by French magazines Le Monde de Multicoque and Voile Magazine.

The Astréa 42 is inspired by the Saona 47 and features all of its pleasures and technology in a more compact size. Its name is derived from “Asteria” the Greek goddess of stars. The name embodies the shining innovation of the Astréa 42’s elegant exterior design and bright interior.

Perfect for cruising with families and friends, this new model has the option to incorporate a swim deck and a hydraulic dinghy lift. Similarly to the Saona 47, the cockpit and saloon areas are meticulously designed to maximize space, light, and line of sight. The galley is U-shaped and contains extensive storage. The foredeck offers a huge sun lounge for guests to enjoy while cruising or mooring. Within the helm station are an integrated lounge deck and double seat for enjoying the ocean air and refreshments. The Astréa 42 is an all-around stunning execution of the joys of the Saona 47 in a compact design.

The Astréa 42 is exceptionally innovative for a catamaran of its size. With the ease of movement and living in mind, the designers created an environment onboard that is both spacious and easily navigable. Compared to the Hélia 44, the Astréa 42’s flared hulls offer more volume below deck. Available in two versions, the Maestro and the Quatuor, she offers ample living and social areas in both 3 and 4 cabin configurations. The Maestro version features an owner’s cabin that fills the length of one hull, complete with a separate shower, head, and full-sized laundry setup. The Quatuor contains 4 identical cabins with a total of 9 different layout customizations.

If renderings aren’t enough to convince you that the Astréa 42 is revolutionary for sailing catamarans of its size, you will have the opportunity to explore it in person this September.
