An epic raft up and a weekend of fun on the Chesapeake Bay!

Rendevous2-16 - Chesapeake Owner's RendezvousFriday Evening Raft Up

The 2016 ACY Chesapeake owner’s rendezvous wrapped up yesterday, and by all accounts, this was the best one ever!  An unpromising weather forecast for Friday turned out to be completely wrong, as we were greeted with beautiful blue skies, mild humidity, and perfect temperatures all weekend.  17 Jeanneau and Fountaine Pajot boats in all joined up Friday afternoon in Whitehall Bay, outside of Annapolis.  The theme

for the evening was the Olympics, with each boat representing a country with its national cuisine and drink specialty.  We enjoyed Jerk chicken and rum drinks from Jamaica, Paella and Sangria from Spain, succulent veal and Campari cocktails from Italy, Empanadas, and Mojitos from Cuba, and so on.  A hardy few were up to the task of visiting all 17 “countries” to sample food and libations from everyone.  Children swam and visited the boats offering special sweet treats, with a night capping movie night onboard the Jeanneau 41DS “Purrfect Geta

Saturday at Herrington Harbor

Saturday morning, the winds began to die off and we decided for a quick charge to our next destination, the beautiful resort marina of Herrington Harbor South.  In flat waters, we mostly motored and were there within about 2 1/2 hours.  Most of the crews spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool and enjoying summer drinks at the pool bar.  At 6 pm, a happy hour wine tasting began on the waterfront, where French Rose and local Wye River Vineyard Chardonnay was enjoyed.  Crews arrived dressed in their national attire, with Germany and Bermuda particularly well represented in

this regard.  Happy hour was followed by a nice dinner and drinks on the beachside.   The annual awards were hosted by Sean Rosano of Cruise Annapolis, with lots of laughs for some of the prize categories.  The grand prize was a new Go Pro camera

Sunday morning Bloody Mary Bar, Breakfast, and departure

Sunday morning started with coffee and the bloody mary/ mimosa bar, followed by breakfast.  Most crews headed out around 11 am, catching some of the fresh southwest wind that greeted us in the morning.

A special thanks goes out to all of our sponsors for this fantastic weekend, including Port Supply / West Marine, North Sails, Olsen Insurance, Coastal Finance, and of course our manufacturers, Jeanneau and Fountaine Pajot.
